Transforming the Garage Into a Shop

Transforming the garage into a shop

Piece by piece during my very limited spare time I have continued to to transform our 2 car garage into a proper shop.  I still have quite a few projects to complete to make the space into an actual shop and not just a garage where the tools are stored, (i.e. dust collection, lumber rack, outfeed table, etc.) however it is really beginning to take shape.

Over this past weekend, thanks to my dad the latest addition to the “Shop” was adding wall to wall LED shop lights.  I’ve had the shop lights stacked in the corner for a couple of weeks, waiting to be installed, but as I have griped about previously time is a precious commodity these days, and that project had not bubbled up to the top of the project list.

I can’t put into words how happy I am with the new lights.  By bringing much needed light to the shop, it has given me an increased motivation to work on other projects that will transform it into a true shop.

On the more practical side, not only does it bring new energy to the space it makes working in the space much safer.  Prior to this past weekend the lighting consisted of a single fixture in the middle of the room with two standard light bulbs.  I am sure you will notice a considerable difference in upcoming videos.  As soon as I get the shop organized again I’ll be ready to work on the dining room table build which I need to have completed before Christmas.
