Inspiring Others to Make Something

Always one more project.

Over the past few months I have received a spike in people purchasing digital plans from me.  It’s not a big surprise since everyone is stuck at home due to shelter in place orders.  Although I do like making a little supplementary income from the plans, it is not the biggest reason I take the time to document the build process.  My biggest joy comes from knowing that possibly inspired someone to get out there and try to make something.  Especially during this global pandemic, I like knowing that I could help give someone that tiny nudge to try something  new or simply tackle a project thats been on their list for far too long.    So I decided to offer the plans on my site for free through the end of June.

FOLEY WOODWORKING DIGITAL PLANS!!

My kids were the ones that inspired me to add a new set of plans to build something kids could enjoy.  Since so many people have been forced to become home school teachers making something their kids could enjoy at “recess” would be mutually beneficial.

At the request of my kids I built them a see saw.  Since my kids are pretty young, I wanted to make something that would stand the test of time, but also be adjustable as they got bigger.

Honestly I had already planned to make one at some point this year but their request just moved that project to the top of the list.  I had seen some example of DIY See Saws but each of them was not exactly what I was looking for.  Not only did I want to make it sturdy and adjustable, I wanted it to be simple entry level project that anyone could build with a few simple tools in an afternoon.

I think I accomplished the mission and my kids love the see saw.  I think they actually like the see saw more than the giant playset I just finished building them.

If you decide to build one of the projects or they have inspired you to build something else please send me a picture. I love to see how i have possibly influenced others to make something.
