With nearly every project I get to a point where I start to see the finish line. When I reach this point I begin to loose interest in the current project and my mind starts to wonder and obsess over the next one.
At the moment I am doing my best to remain focused on a 5′ long cedar planter box that is nearly complete. As with most of my projects I also want to post a video, publish an article and provide build plans for sale at foleywoodworking.com, but I cant help but fixate on the next project. The next project on my list is less of a necessity and more of a wishlist item that I have wanted to build for years. Next up is a queen sized Murphy bed for our current guest room, which we want to convert into more of a kids play room which we can use as a guest room if needed.
It is going to be an interesting project that will present some new challenges I haven’t had to face on a furniture project. Normally I would build an entire project in the shop and move it into place, but because this will be in our upstairs guest room I will need to build most of it in place. Realistically it just means that the project will take much longer. I am debating on what type of video I want to accompany this project. Do I create a single video that has no dialog? Or do I create a series of instructional videos with commentary for each step of the process? Or do I create both?
Since I will be figuring this project out as I go it is difficult to map out a timeline or series of steps that I will need to follow to complete this project. I suppose it will be like most big projects… take it one step at a time focusing only on the next obstacle and eventually it will all come together.
